After months of digital events, travel bans and restrictions, Tom Dixon is getting back on the road and will embark on a Grand Tour of Europe visiting eight cities to showcase their latest interventions. The first stop on the tour will be Milan to coincide with Salone del Mobile from September 5 – 7.
The brand will return to the Manzoni, their hub and restaurant on Via Manzoni, to host a LUMINOSITY exhibition featuring the latest collections: the mesmerising MELT Chandeliers and the highly reflective glass PRESS lights.
Tom says of Italy’s design capital: ‘My first encounter with Milan opened my eyes to an immense international design world that had previously been invisible from my British perspective. The passion for design of the Milanese and the understanding of its transformative power remains with me to this day.’
The Manzoni will be open to the public over the three days and the brand will also host a Press Preview (the first one in Milan since 2019) and a presentation for the A&D community. VIP lunches and dinners will be curated by Francesca Sarti from food design studio Arabeschi di Latte and The Manzoni. Luminosity-themed afternoon tea will be designed by inventive food creators and architects of taste Bompas & Parr, featuring the studio’s new Benham & Froud jellies.
Tom Dixon will also stage an exhibition at next-door neighbour Valextra, the iconic Italian luxury leather goods brand. Inspired by the archives of the Milanese masters Gio Ponti, Ettore Sottsass and Achille Castiglioni, ‘Black Light’ – a display of 10 monumental LED light forms by Tom Dixon and Austrian lighting specialists Prolicht – will sit alongside Valextra’s new Chiaroscuro handbag capsule collection at Via Manzoni, 3.
