backhausen-logo-blackThe new Backhausen spring collections are right on the spot and again show the expertise in developing exceptional interior textiles of the traditional Austrian mill. Extraordinary – yet unexpected to be seen on furniture – designs dating back to the 1930’s are shown on reproductions of Josef Hoffmann furniture and do impress.

Backhausen began 2016 by displaying three brand new spring collections at imm cologne and CASA Salzburg in the previous month of January. The open “living room” stand was unique this year, offering the opportunity to experience every collection immediately.

Owner and creative director, Louise Kiesling said, “My vision is to produce outstanding quality at Backhausen, with the highest aesthetic, technical and artisanal standards”. The focus of the three new collections is on natural materials and pastel colours inspired from the 1930’s design with the original title “Cocaine” by Erika von Trauschenfels.

Collection URBAN
Inspirational reflections are offered by Backhausen’s new wool collection URBAN, combining trend and tradition with a variety of large scale and more intricate patterns, which are convincingly smooth and soft in texture. The exceptional designs by Josef Hoffmann and the designs by Erika von Trauschenfels, offer surprising combinations one may not expect in an interior textile collection. Eleven designs in black and white, fine shades of grey and elegant beige tones are highly desirable and a must have for those who want to give their living space an individual touch.

Collection HOFFMANN II
Rose quartz, ebony, vanilla, mineral… these are the predominant colours of the “Collection HOFFMANN II”, established in the original designs of Josef Hoffmann. A classical version of the Jugendstil patterns, are presented in black and white. The designs of the new collection are at times playful and delicate, straight and geometric, or appear to be hand painted, as in the original sketches. Backhausen materials return to nature, as high-quality wool is woven with a mixture of cotton and a touch of viscose.

Collection TRENTINO
Collection Trentino presents rustic and modern, simultaneously. The collection inspires with its colour range – deep bottle green, bright red, harmonious off-white and elegant silver-grey. The patterns include recreations of traditional knitting patterns and some articles display shimmering effects, created by a special weaving technique, especially for this collection. Flame resistant, it is particularly suitable for furniture design.
