Much awaited INDEX exhibition postponed

Another victim of the pandemic situation, as the organisers dmg events recently made it official that the highly anticipated 30th edition of Index Dubai will not happen this year. The international interiors trade fair has been postponed and rescheduled in 2021 that was originally due to take place in September, it will now be held from May 31 to June 2, 2021.

In a statement announcing the postponement, organisers dmg events said the decision to postpone had been based on concerns around the global pandemic, accessibility, and for the wellbeing of exhibitors, visitors, speakers and delegates.  Katie McBride, Commercial Director Design, dmg events explains “Over the past few months, we’ve been astounded by the positivity and resilience creative businesses have shown when facing the unprecedented challenge of COVID-19.”

“This global pandemic has impacted the interiors community in multiple ways, not least the ability to meet face-to-face and see first-hand the latest innovations in design and products. With this in mind, and considering the important role that INDEX plays as a platform to facilitate networking, trade, and business connections in the Middle East, today we are announcing the postponement of the event to 31st May – 2nd June 2021, at Dubai World Trade Centre.”

“I am deeply moved by the perseverance of all our clients and customers during the last three months,” McBride continues “and whilst the situation is slowly improving, moving to 2021 will ensure we can provide a safe environment and a truly international event that delivers real value to the interiors industry in the Middle East.”

Andy White, SVP Design & Hospitality, dmg events, adds to the sentiment “We’ve made this decision based on concerns for the wellbeing of all involved in our event. The overwhelming response is that INDEX will be of more benefit for the whole industry by postponing it until May 2021.”

INDEX is one of the predominant trade destination for interiors professionals in the Middle East, providing 20,000+ visitors access to a global range of suppliers and manufacturers in furniture, furnishing, fit-out, textiles, lighting and surface materials. The next edition will see even more features, products and innovations to support the interiors industry and will take place from 31st May to 2nd June 2021 at Dubai World Trade Centre.
