Lamatilde renovates Giardinetto Hotel and Restaurant

Giardinetto Hotel and Restaurant’s common areas have been revamped by Lamatilde with the company’s signature approach of reinventing a space as a tool for narrative. The spectacular natural setting of this hotel, which is nestled on Lake Orta’s shoreline, has been transformed into an opportunity to research the distinctive, difficult-to-decipher lakeside architectural aspects of the region.

Every project thus becomes a story that combines architecture, product design, and communication into a singular experience through an investigation of the lifestyles of today and tomorrow as well as of the local culture, as in all of lamatilde’s work. Lamatilde contributes to the Giardinetto architectural project by infusing the building with a meticulous attention to detail, a unique lighting scheme, and furnishings that reflect the chromatically varied colours of the surroundings. Wide windows let in the blue of the lake and the green of the virgin woodlands, which, thanks to the studio’s architecture, echo throughout the interiors.

Indoor spaces stretching from the lobby to the cocktail bar was the prime focus of the project. The aim was to improve the common portions of the structure by instilling more fluid decor, with clearer flows. Passageways along the wall that separates the two zones were highlighted with portals and introduced by a change in colour in the wood panelling, translating into architecture the action of moving through a passage. While light and luminous colours prevail in the lobby, the cocktail bar is enveloped in a softer atmosphere, with mirrored surfaces and more soothing tones.
