ALPI Wood enriches Hotel Melià in Milan

ALPI wood enriches the spacious, renovated foyer of Hotel Meliá, one of Milan’s oldest hotels. The new interior was designed by Vittorio Grassi Architects from Milan and the Spanish architect Alvaro Sans.

The designers chose ALPI Xilo 2.0 Walnut Striped to cover the walls, columns and impressive slatted balustrade that lines the central stair, and edges the mezzanine overlooking the foyer.

ALPI Xilo 2.0 Walnut Striped, created in collaboration with Piero Lissoni, reproduces the rich, warm tones of American black walnut. Its softened veining and subtle nuances give the wood an elegant, contemporary feel.

The renewal of the foyer, restaurant and meeting rooms offers the hotel’s cosmopolitan clientele increased flexibility in use. Spaces are now multifunctional, divided by architectural elements instead of walls.

Wishing to make a visual fusion of outdoor and indoor spaces, the designers used natural materials and added a large number of plants, which gives colour and creates the atmosphere of a natural oasis.

ALPI Xilo 2.0 Walnut Striped is a perfect backdrop to the lush greenery of inner gardens around which different spaces branch off harmoniously, accentuating the continuity between interior and exterior.
