CDM regulations 2015 came into effect from 6th April

cdmThe new Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 for interior designers has come into action on Monday, 6th April 2015. This new regulations is important to all interior designers to educate themselves immediately about their new responsibilities to ensure they are compliant.   The key changes are as follows:

 
•    The revised Regulations apply to all projects including domestic client projects;
•    All projects must have a written construction phase plan;
•    The role of CDM co-ordinator has been replaced with the new role of principal designer
•    There is a duty to make sure all persons doing the job have the right skills, knowledge, training and experience
•    A principal designer and principal contractor must be appointed on projects that have more than one contractor.

 

Beside these regulations the Construction Industry Training Board and Health and Safety Executive has published new guide lines for interior designers that these two institutes hoped that might be helpful to them on work place. The BIID said that they will be publishing further information over the coming weeks, and a CPD on the new regulations will be announced shortly.
