Australian Furniture Association Announced Inaugural Exhibition

Australian Furniture AssociationThe City of Melbourne will transform into the lifestyle capital of Australia for one week each July as the Australian Furniture Association announced the launch of the Australian International Furniture Exhibition (AIFE).

 

This year, the world heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne will transform into the largest ‘display home’ in Australia and will be open to the public from 11 –13 July 2014 for an exhibition of Australian Furniture for every room in the world.
AIFE has been designed to promote Australian furniture to national and international markets.
Over 10,000 visitors are expected to flock to this world class event which will showcase the pinnacle of Australian furniture design and manufacturing trends for both residential and commercial spaces –Then. Now. Next.

 

Each ‘showcase space’ will feature Australian made furniture (and furnishings including flooring, wall and decorative elements) and will be reminiscent of the international furniture salons and global benchmarks for the home furnishing sector. Each showcase will be designed to highlight the quality, diversity and beauty of Australian furniture, with a focus on the industry’s evolution, innovation, talent and technologies.

 

The showcases will demonstrate the practical use of new products and the design aesthetic for which Australian design is recognised internationally. In addition to the showcase living and working spaces, the exhibition will also feature a curation of Australian Furniture Manufacturing and Design with pioneering manufacturers including Aristoc, Fler, Parker and Tessa and leading designers such as Grant and Mary Featherston, Tony Parker, Dario Zoureff, Clement Meadmore to Charles Wilson and Ash Allen. The curation spans over 110 years and features key original work from prototypes to production.

 

2014 Australian Furniture Industry Award (AFIA) nominated pieces will also be on display, with a newly introduced People’s Choice Award category for exhibition visitors to vote upon.
