The Scandinavian and Japanese design world affect each other in many ways. We share the view of the austere and simple in design and architecture. Often we find spots where material and construction are recognized in design and function, preferably with one foot in tradition and Crafts, says Oliver Schmidt, Material Library.

Many of Japan’s materials and manufacturing methods have not previously reached beyond its borders. Through the collaboration with Naoto Nakamura, who is based in Stockholm and JETRO, Japan External Trade Organization are now opening up opportunities to take part in a unique treasure.
