French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have created the ‘Cyl’ office furniture system for Vitra which was unveiled at the Orgatec show in Cologne. The Cyl collection of tables and sofas are made from solid wood and has a natural, minimalist look.
Ronan Bouroullec explains, “Cyl was originally conceived for the home as a table program, but soon we sensed the potential to turn it into a system with a larger range of typologies. It was an important step to realize that its domestic qualities are interesting in the office landscape. I think the simplicity of Cyl responds to a demand for clarity and fosters a welcoming atmosphere in the office world.”
The use of solid wood emphasizes the product’s clean lines with its smooth planes, structural frame and cylindrical elements. Each of the tables can be linked together, or optionally equipped with screens, forming a flexible and interchangeable setting to suit a variety of needs. The sofa is distinguished by its side and back panels available in various heights.
