At the Chrismas Court lunch the Master was pleased to announce that the Senior Warden, Paul von der Heyde, had received the Swedish Order of the Polar Star.
The Ambassador of Sweden, Nicola Case, presented the award in November and records :-
“………… I bestowed Paul von der Heyde with The Order of the Polar Star, on behalf of His Majesty the King of Sweden. Paul has been very active in the Swedish business sector, both as CEO of Kinnarps and as Chairman of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce. He has worked tirelessly to promote Swedish-UK business relations, but also more widely in a variety of fields. His tremendous support for business has been greatly appreciated.”
The Order of the Polar Star is a reward for Swedish and foreign “civic merits, for devotion to duty, for science, literary, learned and useful works and for new and beneficial institutions”. The motto of the Order of the Polar Star is “Nescit Occasum”. In English, it means “it knows no decline”.
