Marburg_Glööckler“My home is my castle,” as they say and with the new wallpaper collection in association with marburg wallcoverings, Harald Glööckler wants to entice us in to his castle, in the most luxurious way possible! In eclectic style, Glööckler, the master of extravagance, demonstrates how everyday items can still be impressively designed.

The Glööckler Deux is the third collection which the eccentric and highly successful designer has created together with the traditional marburg wallcoverings company. “With my new wallpaper collection, I want to make it possible for everyone to create enchantment within their own four walls and to change their life into a fairytale. Beautiful walls are like beautiful clothes – they just make you feel good,” says the multi-talented Glööckler about his latest collaboration with the Marburg family-run wallpaper producers.

The elegant and luxurious collection comprises six main motifs which display Baroque elements and Rocailles, as well as concentric radiant ornamentation with or without coronets and crystals, which appear affixed on the wallcovering. This effect can be enhanced, if desired, with the addition of two-centimetre long crystals. The feather trim motif calls to mind the Parisian Folies Bergère, while majestic eagles’ wings and large motifis of rhinestone-studded decorative brooches on a delicate, lace-like, Art Déco-inspired background create a sophisticated effect. An enticing highlight is the modern crocodile motif, which can also be ordered in combination with crowns and 20-centimetre long alligators. Both elements are available as three-dimensional adhesives which deliver what can only be described as the “wow effect”!

Just as impressive, however, is the production technique used for the collection. Heat embossing is a fundamental area of expertise of marburg wallcoverings. In order to accurately achieve the wallcoverings’ sophisticated relief haptics with up to ten levels and countless precise and fine lines – the so-called Hachures – the rolling plate is engraved and etched by hand by an experienced engraver. Very few can achieve perfection in this area.

The colours also deserve more than a mention. Harald Glööckler is a designer who, like few others, is synonymous with creative blazes of colour and sparkling details. His use of sumptuous interference pigmentation serves to create subtle interplays of colour and iridescent shimmer. Dynamic, deep orange-reds are combined with iridescent cardinal reds to emphasise the accomplished embossing technique. Reflecting the design itself, strong tones – including a forceful, shimmering matt turquoise – are interspersed with muted colours and subtle, refined design modifications. Bold colour effects, audacious embossing and lavish detail all characterise this wall covering collection.

For Ullrich Eitel, managing partner of marburg wallcoverings, the Glööckler Deux collection is also a sign of his company’s ability to innovate. He represents the fifth generation of owner-managers of the family business, which was founded in Marburg in 1845 and is one of the oldest wallcovering producers in Europe. The Glööckler Deux collection comprises 65 heavy, non-woven wallpapers in total. The six main motifs are available in a variety of up-to-the-minute colour combinations. Luxurious one-colour papers with subtle relief printing or ornamentation are also included in the collection.
