Müller Möbelfabrikation launched Products by Jan Armgardt at imm cologne 2014

imm-cologneMüller Möbelfabrikation launched eight new designer items at the imm cologne in January. They included various products by Jan Armgardt, a designer based at Lake Ammersee in Upper Bavaria. The new items are intended to pick up on the company’s guiding principle of developing products that fit in with existing collections and focus on customers’ wants and needs with refreshing unpretentiousness.

Wall, a shelving unit by Jan Armgardt, is a prime example. Designed with books in mind, it accommodates CDs and DVDs so effortlessly it’s actually more like a media shelf. Wall is intended to stand out from other shelving units – in a very literal sense. Because it is mounted on the wall and features emphatic vertical lines, it not only looks unusually lightweight but serves as a striking eye-catcher too. In contrast, the book compartments are closed at the front, emanating a sense of calm and balance.

The metal shelves can be given a semi-matt lacquered finish in any RAL colour and slotted into the back panel in whatever combination is desired. The rear panel is made of birch multiplex with a hardwearing laminate coating in white or black. A shadow gap makes the slender shelving look as if it’s floating in front of the wall – an effect that makes all the more impact when several units are mounted in a row.
