IFI Elects Iris Dunbar as New President

IFIIn an anniversary milestone moment for the global Interiors community, the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) has boldly set the world stage, elevating the interiors dialogue over this new board term 2014- 2015. With the phenomenal success of IFI’s 26th General Assembly following the REKA: Create International Design Conference and the Adoption of the Interiors Declaration by the City of Kuala Lumpur, IFI has positioned itself for another 50 years as the only global forum for Interiors.

 
In her address on the final day of the General Assembly IFI President, Iris Dunbar, at a pivotal moment in its 50th year, announced that this new board will Respect the Past, Change the Present and Inspire the Future.

 

With the mandate bestowed upon it unanimously by the General Assembly, this board will continue to build on the strong foundations already put in place by the hard work of the past board group and the many passionate and dedicated professionals, whose love, belief and perseverance, has helped to establish IFI as an important and well-respected international not-for-profit organization (INGO).

 

The primary work of the new IFI Executive Board over the next 17 months will be to develop the regional / territories’ modal presented by the 2011-2014 board group in conjunction with the IFI Strategic Planning Committee (IFI SPC). This necessary structural change presented in conjunction with the celebration of IFI’s 50th anniversary reflects the changing discipline of Interior Architecture/Design and is an opportunity for organizational transformation.

 

Through appropriate stakeholder consultation, a new structure will be put into place to better harness the power of people in our global design community, and prepare for its implementation in 2015.It is through change that IFI will strengthen its support for as a world body advocating for the profession at the highest global level.

 

IFI’s global membership set the wheels in motion of thinking big through their election of a new executive board for 2014-2015 bringing together a particular set of expertise, including all aspects of the Interiors discipline. Each is a well respected and connected leader within their nation / region and, together, they are a strong, energetic group who will help to effectively position IFI as a 21st century organization.

 

The full IFI Executive Board for 2014-2015 is: Iris Dunbar, Director, The Interior Design School, UK –IFI President Sebastiano Raneri, Founder and Principal, Nuccio Raneri Design Studio, Italy–IFI President-Elect Shashi Caan, Founder and Principal, The Collective US/UK, US–Past- President Hyunie Cho, Director, Cubic Design Company, Korea–IFI Executive Board Member Osamu Hashimoto, Owner, Thinkvision, Inc., Japan–IFI Executive Board member Trevor Kruse, Founder and Principal, Hudson Kruse Design, Canada – IFI Executive Board Member Sylvia Leydecker, Founder and Director,100% interior, Germany–IFI Executive Board Member Roberto Lucena, President and Founder, Roberto Lucena Interiors, Puerto Rico–IFI Executive Board Member.

 

2015 such as World Interiors Day, and the promotion of the Adoption/Proclamation IFI Interiors Declaration by cities across the globe which looks to coalesce and lead the Interior Design discipline into the future. The success of IFI WING -World Interiors for the Next Generation, Global Student Design Competition and Awards, will return this term as well as IFI CID Dialogues -Cultural Innovation Design Dialogues targeting specific regional interests relating to macro design trends.

 

Iris Dunbar on her election as President said, “This is an exciting time for us all. We are grateful to our members, sponsors and donors for their continued support and for helping us get to this stage. The 2014-2015 Board is using this as an opportunity to set the stage with a message of a greater and more magnanimous sharing leading in to the expectation of an ever greater leadership sharing with the world areas modal coming soon.
