INTERIORS UK, organised by UBM Live Built Environment, proudly welcomes back Out of the Dark to the 2014 show after propelling them into the spotlight. The team at INTERIORS discovered them back in 2012 and now they are set to make a triumphant return following their storming debut.
Out of the Dark, the charity that trains and educates young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the art of furniture production have collaborated with a selection of celebrated designers to create four uniquely designed rooms, all with very different briefs, taking centre-stage at this year’s INTERIORS UK.
Each room will contain exclusive pieces by the charity, which takes pre-loved items of furniture and re-vamps them with a contemporary twist, creating striking new products. This unique show set is the ideal space for specialist contractors and interior designers to gain both inspiration and insight that a real life project entails while allowing Out of the Dark to diversify their skills and gain mentoring from some of the industry’s best designers.
First to collaborate on this project will be Deadgood, who will assist in the design for a boardroom. Deadgood is an independent distributor of modern British lighting and furniture and have supplied to the likes of Starbucks, Google and Amazon, and are known for providing ‘products with personality’ to its many clients. As part of this innovative design piece, hospitality design consultancy Dtwo, will create a hotel room set. A perfect choice for the show, the company mirrors Out of the Dark’s passion for innovative, creative and unique design solutions.
Park Grove Design will also work on this one of a kind project to create an inclusive design space. Park Grove works by the ethos that ‘great interior design can enhance the quality of people’s lives’, and it is this mantra that the company follows when creating its award winning care home designs. Director Lori Pinkerton-Rolet, previously President of the British Institute of Interior Design, commented: “that we have the opportunity to work with such a worthwhile group as Out of the Dark and INTERIORS UK makes this a unique opportunity and we are very much looking forward to the collaborative results.”
The final collaboration will see architect and designer Naomi Cleaver create an original design for student accommodation, as topic of hot debate. Naomi, who has worked on briefs ranging from hostels to holiday villas, was delighted to announce the partnership.
The results of these collaborative projects will be on show in Hall 2 at INTERIORS UK, the UK’s definitive interiors trade show, between Sunday 19th and Wednesday 22nd January at the NEC Birmingham.
