British Institute of Interior Design LogoThe British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) has once again announced its support for this year’s 100% Design held at Earls Court, London, from September 17-20. BIID President, Daniel Hopwood, will be taking part in a special panel discussion on Saturday September 20 as part of the event’s “Talks with 100% Design” seminar programme.

Talks with 100% Design brings together some of the best creative minds as part of the UK’s largest design-talks programme spread across four days of the show.  Curated by independent programme manager Claire Barratt, the programme uses a series of formats including headline speaker sessions with global design figures, panel debates, presentations and focused CPD seminars hosted in the main auditorium and across the hall feature hubs.

The BIID discussion, entitled “Interior designers: designers or decorators?” will be chaired by writer and broadcaster Tom Dyckhoff.  Tom will be joined by BIID President, Daniel Hopwood and interior stylist and journalist Sophie Robinson, both judges on the BBC2 programme, “The Great Interior Design Challenge”. The panellists will discuss their work as designers and the role that TV shows of the past have played in the perception of what interior designers do compared to the reality!

“We are excited to once again be a supporting partner at 100% Design,” says Daniel Hopwood.  “We are looking forward to their talks programme which I’m certain will include an array of inspiring practitioners, trendsetters, and designers.  I am looking forward to joining the team from The Great Interior Design Challenge to showcase the work of some talented amateurs and how they can, with the Institute’s help, make the transition to professional, practising designers.”

This year, 100% Design creates the Kaleidoscope, an exhibition space, dedicated to past and future design collaborations. In addition and unique to 100% Design, a series of 10 collaborations with leading international designers create thought-provoking installations for visitors.  The award-winning layout of the show is defined by six sections; International Pavilions, Emerging Brands, Interiors, Office, Kitchen & Bathrooms and Eco Design & Build.
