The Grand Sofà by Antonio Citterio takes centre stage in a new presentation on Level 2 of the VitraHaus. Spacious and elegant, the installation unites various classic pieces with this refined sofa design.
The interior portrays the apartment of a fictional inhabitant named Albert. The former zoologist loves vintage designs and has furnished his living and dining area with a mix of different classics. This is what makes the new Grand Sofà so ideally suited for Albert’s home: due to its understated aesthetic, the sofa can be paired with a diverse range of furniture pieces.
A harmony of lines and curves: thanks to its shelf-like ledge, Grand Sofà can also be used from the side or from behind, making innumerable combinations possible – like pairing it with the Wiggle Stool by Frank Gehry.
Albert’s dining room recalls the interior of the legendary Danish restaurant for which Verner Panton originally designed the Cone Chair.
The carefully chosen accessories in muted colours enrich the setting and create a relaxed ambience for Albert to enjoy when resting in his black Lounge Chair.
