Tacchini presents Santiago seating collection

santiago 01Swedish studio Claesson Koivisto Rune has designed chairs and sofas for the Italian brand Tacchini featuring tall sloping backs that form triangular shapes when seen from the side. The Santiago range includes an armchair and footrest as well as a two-seater sofa, all of which are supported by short tubular legs, placed at the corners of the furniture.

The furniture is framed by curved upholstered armrests, and a high back that slants forwards into the chair. The ottoman is oval-shaped, and covered in a patterned pink fabric to contrast the armchair. The seating is covered in pink or bright yellow fabric, and the feet are available as painted metal, ash or dyed walnut wood.

The studio stated, “Soft and comfortable with a contemporary cut, Santiago armchairs and sofas play with unusual proportions to create a unique visual presence that changes depending on the point you watch them from. From the side, the armrest appears small and irregular, while, as contrast, the backrest is high and triangular.”

The Santiago range is part of a Tacchini’s 2016 collection, which was showcased at last month’s Salone del Mobile.
