CDWEvery year, independent design festival Clerkenwell Design Week presents new design projects and street spectacles, commissioned specially for the festival and featured prominently around Clerkenwell. This year sees collaborative installations from headline sponsor Jaguar and Italian lighting giants Foscarini in the Design Factory, alongside work from artist Ptolemy Mann and materials experts Johnson Tiles, among a range of other projects around CDW.

Young Design collaborative russ + henshaw will present Tile Mile in association with Turkishceramics (pictured above), an exciting temporary installation celebrating the products of different Turkishceramics brands. The installation will appropriate the arch of St. John’s Gate as part of Clerkenwell Design Week Festival 2014.

Architecture practice Studio Weave has created Smith, a pavilion that pays homage to the trades associated with Clerkenwell through the ages, showcasing silversmiths, goldmsiths, watchsmiths and even modern day coffeesmiths. Workshops and demonstrations will be on offer from Harrington & Squires, Hobs and the Goldsmiths’ Centre with the pavilion, made from EQUITONE fibre cement facade materials from Marley Eternit, located in St John’s Square.
The festival’s headline sponsor Jaguar UK has designed another stunning installation for the Design Factory in collaboration with fellow event partner Foscarini, the illuminated sculpture, which features the new Jaguar F-TYPE Coupé sports car and Foscarini’s new totemic LED lamp Tuareg, will sit in the Design Factory’s dramatic atrium.

2014 marks the fifth anniversary of our sister event Clerkenwell Design Week which takes over four stunning exhibition spaces, 60 showrooms and a host of other spaces around the streets of EC1. This year’s design festival promises to be its biggest to date with a host of top class speakers and brands coming to Clerkenwell, London from May 20 to 22.
