Mineheart furnished the Press Room at Decorex this year

Mineheart Decorex press roomMineheart presented the whimsical concept of a Press Room at the Decorex International 2016 show in their signature theatrical and dramatic style. A den of curiosity was created featuring new experimental designs including chesterfield bean bags, bondage chairs, inspirational tables and a menagerie of modified animal portraits.

Mineheart designers Young and Battaglia blended tradition and modernity to create a relaxing space for journalists and bloggers to hang out. The comfy seating areas featured bean bags printed with a buttoned chesterfield design, and in the meeting area were hand painted tables and experimental string back chairs.

The new pieces were packed with humour and clever details. The Chesterfield Bean Bags elevate the humble bean bag to an item for luxurious lounging and the new Inspiration dining tables feature black and white spots and evocative handwriting. The Bondage Dining Chairs, where traditional balloon back Victorian-style chairs are wrapped in parachute cord and industrial webbing, typify Mineheart’s playful approach.

Throughout the PressRoom, the walls were decorated with monochrome and gold editions of Mineheart’s cheeky wall art range. These include versions of the surreal animal portraits and still life scenes created in collaboration with artists Angela Rossi and Himitsuhana. There was also a new version of Mineheart’s popular Madame Blush portrait, but this time in gold.

The Press Room reception featured walls decorated with Mineheart’s Woodland mural leading to an area decorated with the new Paper Palace mural wallpaper created in collaboration with celebrated paper-folding artist Simon Schubert. Simon Schubert’s enigmatic and the delicate visage of the classical portrait has been defaced by gold spray paint in an act of modern-day mischief.

The room was lit by a selection from the Mineheart lighting range, the King Edison and Statue Lamps, and warmth underfoot was provided by Mineheart’s Persian Cow Hides and new Persian Polkadot carpets.

Designers Young & Battaglia shared, “We were so delighted to be asked to create the Press Room at Decorex. The idea behind Mineheart is to create a playground for creativity and discovery, where art meets design, and poetry meets industry. We try to inject a sense of wonder into everyday objects and spaces around us, telling stories and creating things that are truly surprising. We hope that atmosphere is captured in this space.”
