Linea Light Group presented an award to the winner of the “Speeky” workshop at Milan Polytechnic School of Design. The goal of the workshop, which began in November of last year and ended in March 2014, was to create a new LED light concept for the national and international market. The winning project was Point Lamp, designed by Juliana Cortes, Julio Giannoni and Tayfun Gur.
Choosing a winner was not easy, given the considerable amount of feedback received in recent months from the six branches of Linea Light Group, located around the world: Russia, England, Germany, Poland, France and the parent company in Italy. Additional feedback was collected through social networks, the Speeky contest website and the many daily visitors of Light Village, an innovative showroom at the company headquarters in Resana. The design department also made an important contribution, participating in the feasibility analysis of the product chosen.
While all of the designs were worthy and innovative, Point Lamp proved to be the best for the following reasons:
1) Concept – the concept was especially well-regarded by designers due to the product’s flexibility and ability to form combinations to suit the customer’s needs.
2) Design – the product is composed of strips of light that can be arranged into the shape desired and placed on a wall or ceiling, without taking up space in the room.
3) Light – the final customer can choose direct or indirect lighting. This single product can be used to cast light on a wall or into a room. Ideal for corridors, businesses and living areas.
