According to the Federal German Statistics Agency, turnover in the German furniture industry in June 2013 was down year on year by 4% to €1.328bn. The rates of decline on the domestic and foreign markets were similarly high. Domestic revenues decreased by 3.8% to €910m and export turnover fell by 4.2% to €417.5m. All segments showed decline in June. Kitchen furniture, with a minus of 0.2% to €368.5m, fared best, followed by shop and con-tract furniture, which sustained a fall in turnover of 2.6% to €138.1m. Revenues generated with office furniture decreased year on year by 8.3% to €153m and turnover with home furnishings showed decline of 4.4% to €616.5m. The poorest performance was shown by mattress manufacturers, whose revenues were down by 13.3% to €51.4m.
