Gebrüder Thonet Vienna enriches its collection of novelties and exclusive collaborations with the aim of creating a design product able to dialogue with contemporaneity sharing the tradition and values of the company. The first novelty of 2022 is the unprecedented collaboration with the designer Serena Confalonieri, who designed the ARCADIA pouf for the company. The balance between sinuous shapes and movement defines the round-shaped pouf, which incorporates one of the company’s classic stylistic features, the curved wood of the arches at the base, giving it a new and current look.
Visually light and with a playful personality, the ARCADIA pouf is characterised by the curved beech wood structure, the company’s heritage with a timeless charm, which supports the large circular padded seat covered in fabric. Serena Confalonieri has been able to communicate with the company, analyzing its cultural references, studying its materials and working method and then proposing a piece of furniture that is able to fit easily everywhere in every house. For her first collaboration with GTV, the designer ventured into the creation of a pouf whose structural part is made up of the classic curved wooden arch which is at the same time a sophisticated and particular aesthetic element of the project. Suitable for private as well as public spaces, ARCADIA is inspired by the arches and colonnades present in the courtyards of neoclassical residences. Its generous dimensions invite to moments of lightheartedness, sharing and conviviality.
Another important novelty for 2022 that enriches the GTV catalog is the DETOUR round coffee table, signed by the GamFratesi duo. Its name means “a detour of a path”, not only in physical terms but also as a metaphor for a change occuring while following a path. In fact, the legs create a game of lines, just like a detour, to obtain a more decorative and characteristic sign. Two Vienna straw shells conceal the wooden tops and give lightness to the bent beech wood structure, black or natural lacquered and feet with brass tips.
