David/Nicolas transforms Kaléo Modern Restaurant into a playful place

The new modern restaurant in the historic center of Beirut has been transformed into a thrilling and playful place by local design duo David/Nicolas. They idealize every detail of the Kaléo from tiles to bar chairs, dining chairs, sofas, rugs, and chandeliers. The restaurant’s design edgy and dreamlike, in response to a philosophical question taken from Neil Gaiman’s book The Mystery of the Star: “Are we human because we look at the stars? Or do we look at them because we are human?”

Restaurant interior design was born this cosmic mood board for the where pale pink and blue are the main colors, accentuated by green chairs and white details to create a well-balanced interior that creatively packs a lot of information in its relatively small space.

The textures are the spotlight, the velvet armchairs are inviting, but the highlight is the surface of the walls forming the interesting zigzag pattern.

The design was inspired by the ancient churches of Byblos and by the 12th-century architecture of the Al-Omari Mosque. But when they imagine the restaurant in these colors, pink, blue and green, this place can take us to sunny California.
