World-class Architect, David Chipperfield, and his team have transformed the legendary building on Regent Street into a luxury hotel with interiors that combine history with contemporary design.

The Hotel Café Royal in the heart of London is famous for its 150-year history. Before, there was located a popular institution Café Royal, founded in 1865 by the French wine merchant Daniel Nicolas Tevenion. Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf, Winston Churchill, Brigitte Bardot, Mick Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor, Muhammad Ali, David Bowie, just to name a few of its regular customers at different times.

The architecture project was designed by David Chipperfield Architects, and three historical buildings have been restored and turned into a luxury hotel with 160 rooms and suites, with restaurants, bars, a closed club, banquet rooms, a meeting room, a sports hall and a spa complex with an 18-meter swimming pool.

The architecture studio worked together with the restorers Donald Insall Associates and together were able to seamlessly integrate new materials into historical interiors without disrupting their integrity. The design of the lower floor of the hotel, they used Siena marble, exactly the same as the original lobby of Café Royal.

The rooms’ design is decor in pleasant natural colors, with natural materials: Carrara marble, natural wood, glass, leather. In the suites, the traditional style is combined with modern furniture pieces. Despite the luxury, there is no pretentiousness the interiors were designed in moderation, nothing extravagant, very exquisite.
