carl-hansen-logoCarl Hansen & Son are marking this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week by completely redesigning their three floor showroom on Bowling Green Lane. Visitors will also be treated to demonstrations by Benny the Weaver from Copenhagen who will be conducting live demonstrations of weaving on iconic wish bone chairs.

Also as part of the Festival, Carl Hansen & Son are putting on display their newest product collections that were unveiled in Milan. These include Embrace lounge chairs by Austrian design trio EOOS, and the newly produced CH22 and CH26, previously unknown designs by Hans Wegner. Originally designed in 1950 these pieces were never produced, until now. The CH22 was the first example of the collaboration between Carl Hansen & Son as the manufacturer and Wegner as the designer. They are available in solid oak and walnut.

Another design classic, the Metropolitan chair designed in 1949 has now been produced with a wooden veneer back and a leather upholstered seat and will be shown during the Festival.

Every item of furniture produced by Carl Hansen & Son reflects over 100 years of furniture history with respect and passion for craftsmanship. Since opening the London showroom during the Festival last year, the incredible building and picturesque interiors have become a place for meeting and design inspiration for anyone in the design industry.
