BCFA Marks its Presence at CDW 2014

BCFAThe BCFA were again delighted to support Clerkenwell Design Week, Colin, Sam & Mary managed to visit at various points during the week. With many of our members’ showrooms open, joint collaborations with other members together with the various member installations and exhibits across the various creative exhibition spaces, it was a great opportunity for us to meet up and network.

Both GGI and Lee & Plumpton have also recently moved into the area. GGI’s collaboration with Chieftain Fabrics allowed us to indulge in both ice-cream and golf – is that a thing? Clearly yes! The Lee & Plumpton showroom was heaving possibly due to the Norfolk Real Ale and other locally sourced (to their Attleborough HQ) traditional Norfolk delights. Wagstaff Interiors have opened on Brewhouse Yard showcasing their brands and fit out capabilities, we loved the live art installations which attracted a crowd even on the rather damp street outside.

Other members showrooms providing and contributing to the events programme throughout the week were Porcelanosa, Screen Solutions, Haworth, Interface, Sedus, Hands (collaborating with Andrew Muirhead), Milliken, Brintons, Boss Design, Gresham, Camira with ege carpets, Herman Miller, Kinnarps, Pledge and Elite. In the Elite showroom we were quite taken by the sit stand desks which we quite fancy for our offices in High Wycombe (CCW please…) following a demonstration we popped downstairs and Sam and I fought it out on the Scalectrix set (one all if you’re asking, best of three may not have helped with office peace!).

In the Farmiloe building we were greeted by members Gloster, Nomique and OCee who were presenting their OCee Folio brand.  Artemide stood out in their brightly lit corner and with their many other street installations whilst Tektura as part of the Material Lab intrigued us with their wallcovering cones ¬ disappointingly not full of ice-cream this time!
Of course just as we were leaving a crooning Rod pulled up in the BCFA faces van, it’s a tough day on the streets of Clerkenwell but we didn’t beg a lift home just a last chance for a selfie.
