At Salone del Mobile 2017 in Milan, Arper had presented a new booth concept that has earned them the famous “Best of Best” award at Iconic Awards 2017 in the “Architecture” category.
The Spanish architecture firm MAIO has designed the booth together with Jeannette Altherr – creative director of the Arper’s visual concept – with a brand new approach in exhibit design. The aim was to create a space where architecture would interact with Arper collections.
The outcome is a system that consists of various geometric shapes that can be put together and reorganized in different ways. The single elements are also a bearing structure as they are free-standing, simple to assemble and extremely efficient. Flexibility and versatility are, together with essential shapes, the key values of Arper’s design.
The Iconic Awards Jury has positively evaluated the concept of the individual living environments, that put together in modular form not only create an impressive overall image but work sensationally well even in the details. The story appropriately describes a small city. In the centre there is the cosmopolitan world, surrounded by the variously designed spaces/living environments, which together with the furnishings exhibited represent a home, a workplace or both in one, respectively. It is a lovely idea that plays intelligently with the viewer’s imagination and arouses positive emotions while doing so.”
At Salone del Mobile this new concept was developed in two different versions.
Besides its remarkable presence at Pavilion 16, Arper also displayed its collections at Pavilion 22, in Workplace 3.0, where the exhibition takes on a different connotation both in terms of shapes and materials used. The second booth revealed itself as a play of shadows and transparencies that enhances the continuity of space, thanks to the coating made of a translucent material which helps to increase the perception of space.
The Iconic Awards are awarded by the German Design Council that takes into account the whole design process and the interaction of individual disciplines. The international jury is composed by famous representatives of these sectors: Architecture, Design and Corporate Communication. The Awards ceremony will take place on 4th October at the Expo Real Fair at BMW Welt in Munich.
