Peter McLean, AFA Strategic Advisor, comments on the importance of collaboration in the furniture industry, “Collaboration is one way of extracting the hidden value that sits within and across the furniture industry supply chain.
Adopting a collaborative business mindset and model for your business has proven merit in achieving this objective. In fact, for many of us, working with others is the ONLY way that we will be able to survive as a business and compete on a global scale.
Doing business in some form of cooperation is one way of providing innovative solutions – from design through to manufacturing, logistics, installation, after sales service and maintenance – to the bigger customers in the furniture industry.
Of course, this is not to say that these collaborative arrangements will be easy or that there will not be difficult obstacles that must be addressed and overcome, but these types of relationships will ultimately drive us to improve our performance and results.
The AFA is committed to helping its members to develop the capabilities required for success using this approach to conducting business.”
