venice glass week (2)Venice will host the second edition of Venice Glass Week, the international festival dedicated to glass, from September 9 to 16, 2018. The inaugural edition in September 2017 welcomed over 75,000 visitors.

Building on the success of the first edition, the festival promoted by the Town Council of Venice, Fondazione Musei Civici, Fondazione Cini, Istituto Veneto and Consorzio Promovetro Murano will take place once again, with various exciting new developments.

Over 75,000 visitors packed the streets of Venice and Murano to participate in the 150 events included in the city’s first international festival dedicated to the art of glass, and on the strength of this, The Venice Glass Week will be repeated. The festival’s organising committee has just announced the dates of the second edition: from September 9 to 16, 2018.

The first international festival dedicated to artistic glass, with a particular focus on that of Murano, conceived and promoted by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti and Consorzio Promovetro Murano together with the Town Council of Venice – which contributed the success of the festival with its own initiatives – will return next year with various new developments that will be announced soon.

The most important development will be the presence of a Curatorial Committee: for the next edition, all applications will be evaluated and selected by a team of experts in the glass sector, at an international level, including curators, historians, critics and scholars.  The committee will be renewed every year.
