toto_Toto, Japanese bathroom manufacturer, will be hosting a series of dedicated events on toilets as part of the Clerkenwell Design Quarter and London Design Festival 2014.

The events – being held this month at Toto’s Clerkenwell showroom – include a presentation on toilet architecture; a curated photographic exhibition; and a film that presents 26 bathrooms in 26 minutes.

On September 16, Toto ‘aims to raise questions and challenge daily experiences’ about toilet architecture with an event that invites professionals to share their personal views on the subject of toilet architecture while watching 20 slides, each for 20 seconds.

Photographic exhibition Toilets: Evolution or Revolution? – which runs on 15-19th September – focuses on “key moments in the evolution of the modern bathroom”, according to curator Professor Barbara Penner, who questions the future of the toilet through a series of photographs.

Filmmaker Peter Greenaway presents Inside Rooms 26 Bathrooms on 17-18th September, which presents 26 bathrooms in 26 minutes. Toto said the film, which was originally produced for Channel 4 in 1985, ‘is an intimate exploration into the subjects personal relationship with the bathroom as an essential environment, and includes insightful interviews staged and filmed in their own bathroom’.
