The contemporary furniture brand Thonet is coming to Salone del Mobile with their new “Thonet All Seasons” collection for indoor and outdoor. Selected icons from the Bauhaus era, tubular steel classics are given a weather-resistant top coating in time for the beginning of spring.
The “Thonet All Seasons” collection includes chairs S 33 and S 34 by Mart Stam, the side table B 9 and the lounge chair S 35 by Marcel Breuer and the cantilever chair S 533 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Equipped with exposed concrete or solid-core laminate tabletops and an innovative, coloured “ThonetProtect” surface for the frames, which is just as UV resistant as the mesh for the seats and backrests, the new models are especially durable companions.
For Salone del Mobile, Thonet will also present stylish indoor seating furniture with the side table 1025 and the bentwood table 1060.
The side table 1025 by James van Vossel represents solid elegance and minimalistic essence: three wooden legs placed in regular 120-degree intervals describe an imaginary circle on the floor. On the surface of the tabletop they appear as perfectly lined-up flush circles. The different grain pattern of the three table legs, which taper towards the top and bottom, creates an additional graphic effect contrasting with the tabletop.
The bentwood table 1060 by Dutch designer Jorre van Ast is a solid wooden table with a graphic formal language characterised by subtle details. The graceful rectangular tabletop with rounded corners and bevelled edge rests on a frame of two V-shaped pairs of legs that are cleverly connected by a traverse. The legs and traverse are made of solid bentwood and thus refer to the company’s bentwood tradition.
