SUPERMODELS_concern.nu‘SUPERMODELS’ makeS its first appearance during the Salone del Mobile 2014 in Milan. With support from, amongst others, Creative Industries Fund and endorsed by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Amsterdam Economic Board, Dutch Culture, the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds and other partners in the art, culture and design sectors.

SUPERMODELS is an initiative from Concern, presenting a compilation of the Dutch design tradition through the centuries – utilising 3D printed scale models. Iconic works from modern day product and interior designers will be shown alongside their predecessors like Rietveld and Berlage. The context of dolls houses (scale 1:6, 1:12, 1:18) ignites fantasies and plays into the heart and soul of a worldwide audience.

SUPERMODELS has three main elements:
Dutch Design Architect Houses presents a compilation of the Dutch architectural tradition, by means of scale models (1:18) of exemplary residential properties through the centuries.

Dutch Design Models focuses on Dutch chair design with around 120 models (scale 1:6), from Berlage and Rietveld through to Wanders and Vander Kooij.

The Dutch Design House represents the plans for a workspace/ design platform/ creative centre for (Dutch) designers and small business owners outisde of the Netherlands, consisting of (flexible) work spaces, meeting rooms, hospitality and hotel rooms designed by Dutch designers. An initial presentation of these plans has already taken place during the Design Week in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

SUPERMODELS MILAN will also have some ‘special guests’ such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.

3D WORKNET is sponsor of SUPERMODELS and responsible for all of the 3D printwork for the exhibition. Not only will the exhibition contain historical information and value, but also innovation by combining modern 3D print techniques with original design. Above all, and because of these modern techniques, SUPERMODELS is because of these modern techniques, self evolving: New designs can be added to the exhibition during each ‘perfomance’.
