SaloneSatellite wins the Compasso d’Oro for Career Achievement

isaloniThe SaloneSatellite has won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro, the award for industrial design, thereby adding yet another feather to the cap of Cosmit, organiser of the Salone del Mobile.

 

“An initiative sponsored by Cosmit, which over the years,  under the passionate direction of Marva Griffin,  has been responsible for the emergence of many young design talents, nationally and internationally”. With this words on May 28, ADI (Association for Industrial Design), with the contribution of FederlegnoArredo, the Region of Lombardy and the Municipilaty of Milan, presented the SaloneSatellite with the XXIII Compasso d’Oro Award, the venerable prize established in 1954 by Gio Ponti with the aim of spotlighting the value and quality of Italian design.

 

The SaloneSatellite, which will be celebrating 18th year in 2015, was born with an intention to help the promising young designers in their career by placing them in direct contact with the exhibitors at the Salobe del Mobile and it immediately became an unparalleled showcase of young creativity from around the world.

 

Since 1998, more than 9,000 young designers 253 international design schools have come together each April, where in fact, three other winners of the 2014 Compasso d’Oro made their debut: Davide Groppi and Studio Adriano (Italy) and Daniel Rybakken(Norway). The SaloneSatellite thus confirms its status as the premier international showcase of young creativity and incubator of emerging talent: the single most important reference point for young people who wish to enter the world of design.
