PT_Logo_CyanPatel Taylor has been appointed to masterplan a new town for client GreenGold AG in Selishche, Russia. Strategically located between Moscow and St. Petersburg, it is already one of Russia’s most popular holiday destinations. Sitting on the shore of Lake Seliger, the area earmarked for development covers 3,300ha.

Recently onsite, Patel Taylor has created a rich woven design, threading together a number of development zones, each with its own identity. It makes best use of the natural beauty of the site and creates a place that focuses on wellbeing – a key aim of the development.

Building types and facilities include social housing, apartments, mini-villas, hotels, health clinics, wellness centres, in addition to social and commercial infrastructure. Patel Taylor’s design enables a thriving community to flourish, aiming to reverse the trend of decline of recent years, while providing a unique draw to the region for tourists.

The masterplan caters for an estimated visitor population of 20million people per year. Currently, the area attracts just 3 million.

Patel Taylor has created a sustainable framework that involves the consideration of a wide range of issues, from the environmental impact of materials, energy and waste to social impacts on health and wellbeing, inclusion and the local economy. It is intended that Selishche will become a national benchmark for sustainable development.
