Normann Copenhagen has won two special mentions in the “Excellent Product Design Furniture” category for the Tap stool and the Form collection, both designed by the young Danish design talent, Simon Legald.
Tap is a stackable stool with totally unique character. Lightweight foam with a flexible, closed surface was used for the dead-mould casted seat. This gives the stool its excellent sitting comfort and its inviting look, usually associated with upholstered furniture. The clever combination of wooden chair legs with the foam seat is an integral part of the sophisticated design.
Form is a modern cup chair made using plastic mould casting, which is available with and without armrests and also as a bar stool in two different heights. The back and seat are ergonomically shaped and promise comfort and relaxation. Form is an example of a flexible design that in principle fits on all frames – even those yet to be developed in the future.
Simon Legald, together with Normann Copenhagen, has created designs that unite the contemporary and the innovative. The German Design Award is a huge recognition of his work.
