Nordstil Show For The Retail Trade

Published on : Saturday, November 16, 2013

A market development is reflected in the spectrum of exhibitors at Nordstil. The largest group of exhibitors – now more than 700 in all – concentrates on the art of living and decorating: “Creative diversity for the home across all product groups is an essential feature of Nordstil – Hamburg Regional Order Days,” is how Philipp Ferger, Head of Consumer Goods Fairs, Regional, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, comments on this trend-driven development.

A combination of powerful impulses and a high level of individuality is the promise held out by the special presentation ‘Nordlichter – Manufakturen & Design’ (‘Northern Lights – Manufactories & Design’) where more than 40 manufactories and young designers will be showing their creations. This highlight will be curated and designed by Peter de Vries, who himself works as innovator and creative artist with felt as a material.

Originally from Holland, but now living in Hamburg as his elective home, de Vries is, among other things, a member of the German Arts and Crafts Association (Bundesverband Kunsthandwerk) and, since 2011, has held a lecturing post at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg (Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg). “Many designers work together with manufactories and the manufactories implement the ideas of the designers, so the special presentation ‘Nordlichter – Manufakturen & Design’ is an individualised ordering experience for buyers and lovers of design that guarantees the customer a fantastic selection of products and the shopping experience associated with it. The Northern Lights shine brightly! “, is de Vries’s comment on the concept of the special presentation.
