NBF Code Of Practice Unveiled

Published on : Thursday, November 7, 2013

NBFThe NBF Code was launched at the NBF’s recent Bed Show in Telford, where it was widely welcomed by manufacturers and retailers alike. The scheme requires all NBF members to be independently audited against a strict set of criteria to certify they have robust procedures in place for complying with regulations covering flammability, cleanliness of fillings and trade descriptions.

The auditing process for the NBF existing membership has been taking place over the past few month, with the majority of members now approved. From 2014 onwards, all members will be required to meet the conditions of the new Code of Practice and pass the audit. From 1st November, the new NBF Approved logo will start to appear on manufacturers’ products, POS, websites and other marketing and advertising materials.

The NBF plans to roll out its marketing of the scheme to the general public from early in the New Year. “We will be promoting the NBF Approved scheme to the public as well as to the trade,”says Jessica Alexander. “Unfortunately, there are unscrupulous traders out there who are knowingly flouting regulations, which directly affects people’s health and safety. We want the trade and the public to know that, if they buy a product from an NBF member they can buy with confidence, knowing that safety standards are being met and that they are buying what it says it is!”
