The Delight in Light competition is the premier competition for lighting design students in the UK.
Established in 1985 the Lighting Industry Association are dedicated to championing emerging talent in the world of lighting design. For the first time in the award’s history last year it was brought to 100% Design, with the finalists on show in September. Last year saw an amazing range of designs and saw over 10,000 online votes. Again this year we have the pleasure of hosting this presitigious design competition.
Last year’s winner Ash Allen scooped the £1000 prize with this beautifully simple but clever pendant design ‘Dollop’.
Entry for this year’s competition is now open. And some of the early entries are:
- The Lysande by Thomas Ting is a contemporary take on the traditional table lampshade where the light is brightest on the top and bottom with an ambient glow all around.
- Construction Lamp by Adam Bilsborough is inspired by the playful nature of Meccano and is made from a combination of bamboo and steel.
- The top image shows the Fortryllet by Kate Caven which is an aesthetically pleasing mood light that features sand blasted acrylic components arranged in a 360 degree traditional lamp form.
