villeroy_laufenLaufen and Villeroy & Boch have won Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 category. Judged by 40 design professionals from 25 countries, the awards aim to recognise product excellence based on functionality, ecological impact and quality.

Laufen’s Pro S collection of sanitaryware and furniture, designed for the company by Peter Wirz, has been awarded with a Red Dot Award, along with Villeroy & Boch’s Architectura Metal Rim and SlimSeat products.
The awards will be officially presented in front of 1,200 guests at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany on  July 7. Organisers said the manufacturers were among 4,815 entries from 53 countries received for the Product Design awards – the highest-ever number of entrants.

Laufen’s Pro S collection includes washbasins, a water-saving WC and matching bidet, and furniture base units. Director of marketing and products Marc Viardot said: “The award proves that through continuous further development even functional products with a good price-performance ratio and timeless design are modern and of a sustainable value.”

Villeroy & Boch, which has won Red Dot awards every year since 2010, said its ultra-slim shower tray Architectura Metal Rim and the SlimSeat ‘received the award for their minimal, slender design, which doesn’t impact on comfort’.
