Spring 2018 will see the launch of Twill Weave, the first textile by LA-based designer Jonathan Olivares for Kvadrat, which will be celebrated with a one-day only private event at the Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies at the Harvard Art Museums.
The inspiration for the textile design came about in 2016, while Jonathan Olivares was searching for a suitable upholstery-grade textile to pair with a carbon fiber twill weave textile. To develop the colour palette for the textile, Olivares began research in the Forbes Pigment Collection at the Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies, studying colours that are found as minerals and earthen materials, which have been used as artist pigments.
The official premiere of Twill Weave will take place at Salone del Mobile this Spring.
