Heritage Furniture Store Turns Turkish Restaurant

Published on : Saturday, December 28, 2013

The heritage furniture store that has been home to Philpotts of Hitchin will be turned into a Turkish restaurant.
An as yet unnamed company wants to make the ground floor of the Sun Street site the home for its first dip into the British hospitality market. The owners of the circa 80-year-old Hertfordshire furniture business carried out a planned closure of the store in 2012, though family members continue to trade an online craft business under the Philpotts name.

Philpotts the Furnishers was also known locally for its craft shop. That was located in a dedicated area of the first floor of the Hitchin building, which at present looks likely to become a centre for parents with young children.
