With their new 2018 collection, Frag aims to create aesthetic inspirations for a refined and contemporary living environment. Sofa and armchairs, chairs, storage units and accessories come together in sophisticated living rooms, lounges, and appealing dining areas.
Saddle leather and leather, which the company has worked with for generations, are used with brass and other metals, marble, wood and fine finishes to enhance the timeless beauty of these materials.
This year, the company will occupy a much bigger space at Salone del Mobile, with a new position at Pavilion 16, Stands D51-D55.
Frag world will be once again in the hands of Ferruccio Laviani, the author of an artistic display that is both minimal and decorative in its use of high-quality materials and architectural references.
The 2018 collection is the result of the work of Italian and international designers who were asked to interpret the company’s historical identity and manufacturing expertise through new contemporary influences.
Viae valet stand
Frag will present for the first time Viae valet stand, designed by Analogia Project and inspired by the cobblestones of ancient Roman roads, shaped and polished by time and wear. Viae joins the family of coffee tables presented last year by these very designers, hence the name and the characteristic decorative style and rounded forms.
The vertical metal tube structure is held together by four circular pieces made of the same material, forming three support points at different heights and with different functions: two clothes stands and a valet tray, all stylistically linked by a saddle-leather finish. The clothes stands are formed from hand-finished tubing – straight for trousers and curved for coats and jackets – and a rounded-edge valet tray. Analogia Project have successfully combined functionality and looks in an attractive and decorative object for most intimate corners of the home.
Riviera lounge chair
The company will also present Riviera, the first of a series of projects developed this year with the Dainelli Studio of Marzia and Leo Dainelli, in their first collaboration with Frag. Riviera is a sophisticated lounge chair displaying hints of the 1920s and Bauhaus in its use of metallic tubing, and contemporary and decorative influences in the burnished brass finish and the combination of the leather-covered cushions and saddle-leather-covered seat base and back.
The tubular framework consists of several rectangles, forming the base, the armrests and the structure to which the saddle-leather seat is attached. The two ends of the saddle-leather seat are attached to the metal structure in the form of a hammock – a suspended ‘L’ shape with a large cushion inside it, covered in soft leather for comfort.
The collection presented at Salone del Mobile 2018 will confirm Frag’s plans to expand and consolidate its wide range of coordinated products, inspired by contemporary international elegance. The company’s essential, sophisticated style and manufacturing excellence, representing the best of “Made in Italy”, will be the common thread linking with master craftsmanship projects to the different inspiration.
