John said: “FIRA Service Technicians has a rich history of functional innovation. Since our inception over 17 years ago we’ve pioneered a number of technological advances designed to make our processes more efficient and to provide our clients, and in-turn their customers, with a better experience. This focus on continual development is still maintained; recent developments include improvements to our electronic appointment booking system; the use of text messages to better communicate with customers; and most recently, a significant investment in tablet computers to support a radically new reporting system.”
After reviewing the way they were contacting customers to arrange customer appointments, FST looked at the idea of using text messages to get in touch.

 

John continued: “Contacting a customer by phone to book appointments can be problematic, with only 50% of our outbound call attempts actually getting through first time. This is not particularly surprising given the busy lives people lead. Nowadays, most people have mobile phones, but even then are not always available to take a call. An automated text message, however, seems to prompt a response far more quickly. This system has proven to be very successful, it is very simple to implement but it has reduced the time it takes us get in touch with a customer and the job underway, meaning that issues can be resolved sooner, which is better for everyone.”
