Published on : Saturday, January 25, 2014

Australian FurnitureThe Australia Furniture Association (AFA) has recently announced the  Members and other stakeholders that its President, Mr Joe Mimmo, has made the decision to resign from his role on the Council of the AFA.

Joe’s contribution to the industry spans nearly 59 years and he has held the position of President since 2008, recently overseeing a number of significant changes at the Association. Joe notes that the most challenging aspect during his time as President of the Association was making the decisions for the benefit of the industry as a whole.

Joe has made an enormous contribution to the Association during his time as President and the AFA will continue to benefit from Joe’s experience and knowledge well into the future.

The role of the AFA President will be filled by Ms Brooke Winter, who has been an AFA Councillor since 2010. Brooke is the General Manager of Flamingo Furniture, a family furniture manufacturing business based in Bayswater, Victoria. Brooke has grown up in the industry and was appointed to the position of General Manager of Flamingo Furniture three years ago.
Brooke believes it is crucial that the industry comes together to form a single voice, especially in relation to obtaining recognition and support from Government. ‘We need to prove to the Australian Government that we are a sustainable industry and we are here to stay in order to encourage them to throw their support behind us.’
The AFA welcome Brooke as President of the AFA and wishes her all the best in her new and exciting role.
