It’s all happening at New Designers for the next two weeks when the doors open to reveal Britain’s newest and emerging talent. Over 28 years the Business Design Centre in Islington has been the hotbed of career launches for thousands of design graduates who want to influence prospective employers, buyers, galleries, studios and public visitors. With the launch of the Design Council, Future Pioneers platform for New Designers in Part 2, these are exciting times for British designers many of whom create the trends of tomorrow.
But along with new designs exposure sometimes leaves new graduates open to copying. Surprisingly, the intellectual capital created by tomorrow’s design champions are not formalised by many design colleges in widespread IP intellectual property education. Often the excitement of showcasing new and original ideas can sometimes leave designers vulnerable. Why is this? Inevitably only good designs are copied and New Designers is an inspirational supermarket of new ideas and designs on show during the next two weeks.
