BFM to conduct a design law seminar

bfm logoThe British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM) has booked the exhibition centre at Cranmore Park, Birmingham, for their next event to be held on June 9, 2016. BFM is going to host a host a seminar to update its members on intellectual property law.

 
Simon Clark, head of intellectual property at Berwin Leighton Paisner, is going to be present at the seminar as guest speaker. There will also be a presentation by Steve Moore of the BFM on the EU Commission-funded FreeFoam project.

 
It will cover topics such as design protection, copyright protection and laws, as well as copyright in fabric and two-dimensional designs, and essential trademarks together with those for future designs. There will also be reviews of the Tripp Trapp chair, London Black Cabs and KitKat bars cases, and how they apply to furniture designs.

 
BFM MD Jackie Bazeley says, “It is important to keep our members up to date with current and changing laws within the furniture industry and this seminar is just one of the ways in which we give them access to the kind of vital information they need to run their business.”
