BCFA to host student designer showcase campaign

Published on : Saturday, April 11, 2015

BCFA logoBCFA is hosting a special ceremony on 1st July for designer students under the name of “BCFA Beyond Education” campaign to allow them showcase their work and gain valuable advice and career opportunities.

The ceremony will be held for two weeks. BCFA will host Student Advisory Clinics at the event for the fourth year consecutive year. Supported by the Furniture Makers and, for the first time, the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID), these clinics will allow students to meet with leading designers and manufacturers and gain valuable career guidance. Each year over 100 students are helped in this way. In the past we have also offered placements for students with BCFA members; providing valuable experience and an insight into the commercial world.

The success of the event is evidenced by its excellent track record and the way that it has provided the entry point to the industry for so many big names.

In week two, on 1st July the BCFA New Designers award will be made to one outstanding student. This will provide a placement for the prize winner at BCFA member Nova Interiors in Chesterfield.

The success of New Designers is showcased by the impact it has had on students’ careers.  In 2014 Jessica Leigh Calvert won the BCFA New Designers award and secured a placement with FR One. Jessica is now a designer at BRU Textiles.  2010 winner Lois Norman is also now senior designer at Brintons Carpets
