The Australian International Furniture Exhibition to Open Soon

Australian Furniture AssociationThe Australian International Furniture Exhibition (AIFE) will open the door to the latest trends in furniture design and global style from Friday 11 July at the Royal Exhibition Building Melbourne. AIFE promises to become one of the highlights of the lifestyle and design calendar and is open to the public until July 13.

 

Exhibitors at this inaugural exhibition are of an exceptionally high standard with iconic Australian brands led by Didier and Molmic appearing, as well as a collection of emerging designers and manufacturers including Tide Design, Mr Dowel Jones , Ash Furniture and Hatton. Grain Timber Furniture, Make Your House a Home and KM Tubular round out the unique and varied brands on show.

 

The Exhibition will feature a series of showcase rooms comprising of modern Australian furnishings, a show stopping precinct filled with 2014 Australian Furniture Industry Awards nominated pieces and the Modern Icons Gallery of the most famous of Australian furniture makers for the past century.

 

Each individual showcase space is designed to highlight the quality, diversity and beauty of Australian made furniture, with a focus on the industry’s evolution, innovation, talent and technologies.  Visitors will observe the practical use of new products and marvel at the design aesthetic for which Australian design is recognised internationally.
For the first time ever, pieces nominated for the 2014 Australian Furniture Industry Awards will be on public display, giving visitors an unprecedented access to the prestigious Awards program. In light of this fact, award categories have been expanded to include a ‘People’s Choice’ award, voted and decided by visitors.

 

The Modern Icons Gallery, a collection of furniture pieces from Australia’s most renowned furniture brands, will highlight the undeniable beauty and value of Australian design and manufacturing that is internationally recognised and highly sought after.  The gallery spans over 100 years and features important key pieces from Federation to present day.

 
The Modern Icons Gallery is a must see for lovers of beautifully designed and crafted furniture with an eye and passion for the works of past masters and the narrative of our nation’s design and manufacturing heritage.
