arper milanThe year 2016 ended for Arper with presenting a new refurbished showroom in Via Pantano in Milan, completely renovated by the Spanish studio Lievore Altherr. Interior design developed for this space expresses elegance, modern and minimalist, able to recall and emphasise the style of Arper collections, united by unique shapes and simple, they are able to express a timeless language.

The showroom is characterised by the use of a single material of wood. Lievore Altherr wanted to create a contemporary setting warmed by the essence of the wood that serves as a connector of different areas and at the same time produces a muffled and relaxing environment.

Jeannette Altherr, LA Studio, says, “The wood creates continuity between the different areas of the showroom, expressing in this way consistency. The wood connects the front that welcomes the visitor with the inner part of the showroom, which houses work spaces and meeting rooms, and creates a common thread with the lower floor, dedicated to the design, testing, meeting with the architect. The space is completed with a minimal and elegant styling, which highlights the collections housed the showroom.”

The natural light from the large windows that overlook Via Pantano in addition to that which permeates from the central atrium, the outdoor area of the showroom is the element that characterises the space and emphasises the volume. With lights and a wise plan of lighting design, the colour of the collections and tissues is enhanced, to grasp the details and refinement of fabrics and finishes.

A strong architectural element has been completely redesigned: the scale, the helical shape, wide and harmonious, now appears as a single block of wood that invites the basement to host designers and assist them in the stages of decision and customisation of projects for Contract. The renovated space in Milan was in fact conceived primarily as a space dedicated to the design. Here the materials library takes place: fabrics, finishes and colours are available to the architect in a cosy atmosphere, which fully expresses the brand and its potential.
