puff_stitch_cushion_on_chairAnna Gravelle is a newly graduated textile designer and will be showcasing her innovative and unique textiles during the London Design Festival 2014 as part of our new Young British Designers Event where we will be featuring a range of talented newly graduated furniture, fabric, glass and surface designers.

Anna uses tufting and printed patterns in radically different fabrics and yarns and are realised in cool, architectural greys and vivid colours. At the London Design Festival we will feature her yellow and grey cubes with matching cushions.

The method of tufting, which is something we previously associate with old-fashioned candlewick bedspreads is given a radical make-over to create a dramatic and unusual feel and look.
Anna’s inspiration for her collection came from observing the grids and rhythmic lines reminiscent of harvested fields during the natural decay of the colder seasons as observed in her native West Country. She has already caught the eye of the Crafts Council and was invited to join their prestigious Hothouse scheme, and has also been selected to exhibit at a number of other high profile graduate events.

“As well as being excited about having Anna showcase exclusively for us as part of our new young British designers event at London Design Festival I’m also looking forward to using her fabrics for clients. Her sophisticated and unusual designs really stand out and she is certainly someone to watch”, says Mark Riese, Managing Director of urban living interiors.
